Students at RCMA’s Immokalee Community Academy recently designed and constructed a special community altar as part of Naples Botanical Garden’s Día de los Muertos Celebration. The design honored the late Wendell Rollason, Founding Executive Director of RCMA, as well as other individuals who have been instrumental in promoting education for our scholars.
With origins in Mexico, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday traditionally celebrated to share memories of loved ones, and celebrate families and friends who have died. The event in Naples featured the holiday’s rich culture through special displays, arts and crafts stations, live music, dance performances, and food.
Our thanks to Mrs. Guerra and Mrs. Velasco who led the students’ efforts to design the altar.
