WIMAUMA (March 30) – Wimauma Community Academy middle school students will host a free “Blue Ink” art reception, exhibit and sale that is open to the public from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at the school, 18236 US-301, Wimauma. Eighty-three sixth and seventh grade students used blue ink to create their animal- and plant-themed drawings.
“As part of our learning about drawing, we include blue ink as a means of expression, because it is still a very current ancient medium,” says Yanira Santana, art teacher at the K-8 Wimauma Community Academy. “The results were impressive, and we decided to share the works with the public. We also want to teach students that art is a job, that’s why the art will be for sale.”
Artwork prices range from $15 to $50 each. Proceeds will go directly to each student.
Samples of the work are available for viewing at facebook.com/rcma1965.
