Scholars at all three of RCMA’s academies are offered a wide variety of activities to participate in. At Wimauma Community Academy, one of the more creative programs centers around quilt making. Scholars there recently competed in the National Grange Quilt Block contest where scholars had to design and sew quilt squares following a traditional pattern. We are happy to report that WCA swept the competition, placing first, second, and third in this national Junior Grange competition!
Congratulations to Joselyn Lopez-Chilel (first place), Kelly Geronimo-Perez (second place), and Emilio Juarez (third place). Special thanks to Mrs. Bethany and Mrs. Holly for their leadership on the project. Also, a big thank you to Mrs. Bethany’s mom and family friend for dedicating their time and machines to help teach our scholars this valuable skill. It’s great to watch all of our scholars experience success in different ways and excel in their own unique strengths.
