Continuing a long-standing partnership, the Mosaic Company has issued a $100,000 challenge grant to help RCMA raise funds for its new Mulberry Community Academy. The charter school is set to open this August for the 2023-2024 school year with temporary classrooms. Construction for the K-8 school serving 360 students is expected to be completed by fall 2025. During the challenge grant period, Mosaic will match up to $100,000 donated by other supporters.
“We are deeply grateful to Mosaic for their ongoing support of our mission here at RCMA,” said Isabel Garcia, Executive Director at RCMA. “As we prepare to provide a continuum of education for students transitioning from our child development center to our new charter school in Mulberry, this gift will not only fund the needed expansion, but will also serve as a catalyst for other individuals and organizations to step forward and be part of this new charter academy. We are committed to ensuring that children in Florida’s rural communities have access to the best education possible and that they and their families benefit from our holistic approach that includes health care, parenting classes, English language instruction, nutrition services and immigration support programs.”
In addition to the challenge grant, Mosaic is in the second year of a three-year commitment to the organization for $150,000 to help fund a sports pavilion at RCMA’s Wimauma Community Academy. Included in the project is a 52 ’x 90’ sports court utilized for physical education classes and afterschool sports programs as well as a steel protective cover, protecting the students from the harsh Florida elements.
